The Latest Kansas Cowboy
Just mailed the latest edition of Kansas Cowboy. The Nov-Dec 2011 issue features a story I call Hunter & Evans Monolith of the Beef Cattle Industry. One of the greatest livestock commission companies of the Old West, Hunter & Evans spanned from Texas to the Dakotas and from St. Louis to New Mexico! Their story is the history of the cattle industry in the 1870s & 80s. Cattle wars and blizzards were their regular fare. You wont want to miss this story! A Harrowing Night At Death Hollow recounts an incident during William Bells travels and adventures&whilst engaged in the survey for the Southern Railroad to the Pacific Ocean, in 1867 and 1868. Pilgrims on the trail were brought to near panic by an Indian attack at the famous campsite of Death Hollow on the Smoky Hill Trail.
